CMAS Wreck 2

The CMAS Wreck 2 is a specialization course for divers at least certified CMAS D2 or equivalent and already certified CMAS Wreck 1, that have a particular interest in wreck diving and intend deepen the knowledge about this particular kind of environment beyond the limits given by the CMAS Wreck 1 course, especially regarding the penetration procedures. Being in a overhead environment it’s an unique and exciting experience that requires proper training.

Goal

The CMAS Wreck 2 course is designed to extend and enhance the skills acquired in the CMAS Wreck 1 within the goal to provide all the needed knowledge to plan and execute advanced wreck diving with extended penetration always ensuring comfort, competence and confidence within the limits of the owned certification. You will learn and understand all the potential dangers associated with the overhead environments, how to plan gas management with a conservative approach, how to navigate following lines, how to use a reel for placing temporary lines, how to fix broken lines or restore missing placements, how to conduct a group on a wreck, how to use navigation and orientation techniques on wrecks including emergency and zero-visibility procedures.

After you get the certification it will allows you to dive on wrecks with extended penetration within the limits of your certification (D1, D2, D3 or more) using the appropriated breathing mixtures (Nitrox or Trimix).

Additional note: this course works perfectly if taken in combination with the CMAS Trimix Normoxic course. If you are already certified CMAS D3 or equivalent, take in consideration the idea to attend a combo class!

Duration

The CMAS Wreck 2 course is usually conducted over five to seven days and includes four training dives, five experience dives on at least three different wrecks (preceded by land drills) included penetration and two theoretical lessons conducted in classroom. This course is concluded mandatorily at the sea in order to gain real on-field experience.

Conclusion

The course ends when the students have passed a written exam and have fullfilled all the pratical outcomes.
